Holi Festival at Flower Mound Heritage Park
Cultural Society participated in the Denton County Indian Cultural Association (DCICA) annual Holi festival on March 21, distributing free kites to the attendees celebrating cultural traditions in our community.
This time of the year with mild temperatures, light winds and thick air makes it ideal for f lying kites, a traditional springtime traditional activity in our community. Volunteers bought kits, assembled, and distributed ready to fly kites.
We sincerely thank DCICA and the Town of Flower Mound officials for helping us celebrate Holi traditional Spring festival. Many thanks to the volunteers who helped create the banner, bought the kite kits and assembled on site. Many sincere thanks to the volunteers and attendees for making this event a grand success.
Hour of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Flower Mound Public Library
In the spirit of community service through awareness and education, the teachers of Sloka classes organized two educational sessions in the Flower Mound Public Library during the spring break time. In these sessions, children were introduced to fundamental concepts of AI such as natural language and speech recognition, large language models etc. They also played interactive games created by Google Research in a fun and engaging way to discover places, predicting weather and floods and help doctors prioritize patients in resource-constrained settings.
The program was well attended and received by children and parents.
Classical Music Program
Continuing to provide a platform for showcasing the incredible talent in our community, a three-hour classical music program was conducted on March 28, Saturday. This event coincided with the spring festival season of Holi, Ugadi (New Year) and Sri Rama Navami.
It was a standing room with a cumulative attendance of 100 in all. Parents, students, and visitors came from all over the DFW metroplex.
We thank the following schools for sharing their talent with the community:
Amrita Varshini Academy Swara School of Veena
Kikkeri School of Violin
Swathi Swara School of Music
A special recognition goes to a young girl who came from California specifically for playing Veena in this event. We thank her for that and hope to see her perform again here.
The entire program can be summed up as a beautiful tapestry of a variety of colorful ragas, melodies, composers, voices and instruments in flawless performances.
Congratulations to all the participants, teachers and parents!
Parents, children and volunteers join in making these events happen. We believe that volunteer services are very important and valuable.
